The Consul In Action

So youthful as you can see yet he's now the Vice Consul and Third Secretary at the Philippine Embassy in Korea. He's a model, an icon in his own right! And I'm much privilege that he considers me a friend.

I firmly believe that his ultimate dream as Consul is to uplift the living situation of OFWs in Korea especially the TNTs. More power and Godbless sir!

I know the consul too way back in Korea when he was just another rich Filipino who could afford touring other countries. And I met him again when he returned to Korea as a consul. I was then working in a Korean NGO assisting foreign women trafficked to South Korea to work in the clubs that catered to US servicemen and civilians. I mentioned to him my frustration about the problem Filipino clubs workers had with their Filipino managers (a.k.a. traffickers) and their Korean bosses. The consul explained to me that labor problems and welfare problems of Filipinos in Korea are handled by POLO and OWWA respectively, and the consular department is separate from these offices.
Is consular office's function solely diplomatic in its nature with the host country? Or does it address issues that needed to be addressed as representative of the Filipinos in Korea?
I like the title 'the consul in action' and I like someone young and committed like him to make the lives of Filipinos in Korea a bit better rather than just 'making diplomatic' ties and really 'act' to address pressing problems vis-a-vis sex trafficking of Filipino women. Can I count on the 'consul in action' to act on it?

Yes, you could count on the Consul in Action. He has the heart for the poor and the oppressed. Recently, the Embassy has strengthened the Assistance to Nationals Unit. Although, POLO-OWWA handles labor issues as well as entertainers who have problems in Korea under a one-country team approach. Jed could be counted on not just as a consul but as a friend. I know him very well.
